The theme chosen for 2022 forum is ‘Ethiopia’s IFRS implementation: the journey to-date and the way forward’.The topics of discussion will address the rampant challenges of IFRS implementation since its adoption in Ethiopia and pinpoint action steps to expedite the way forward. Brief presentation will be made summarizing results of survey on specific IFRS related topics including, among other:
Difficult and/or impractical standards from Ethiopian context
Practical & important standards requiring special emphasis/attention
IFRS implementation roadblocks in Ethiopia particularly related with property & actuarial valuation and shortage of experts & expertise
Regulatory issues in relation with financial reporting, in general, and IFRS implementation, in particular.
There will then be open and in depth panel discussion based on questions and comments from the floor to be addressed by the presenter, the panelists and/or other participants from the floor.
Our guest speakers and panelists are representatives from the finance profession, Ministry of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, key private and state-owned banks, AABE, ACCA, CFOs from selected local and multi-national companies and other stakeholders.
